today i was writing a letter to the one and only mr pat barnes and as i was describing what it was like to be away from home (and by home i of course mean tms) and this is what came out. its really true, even though i didnt realize it till i wrote it
Life here is so not Mountain School. Life is less pure. You can't just do and live and love, you think about doing and living and loving first. Here, survival of the fittest is typical and/or academic: college, sports, etc. At Mountain School, the only survival of the fittest competition is loving, loving everyone and everything and every place and rock and twig and leaf you see until your heart just explodes and you can barely breathe for how beautiful it all is. That's life, and the most beautiful thing of all is that I know when I look back and remember that life, that pura vida, I'm not romanticizing at all. That's the point of Mountain School, really: to teach you how to love, how to love everyone and learning and all forms of life, including yourself.
love you
This is so true. I love this.
